“Shortage of Wheat and Flour in Karachi Due to Conflict Between Flour Mills and Sindh Government”

“Half of Karachi’s flour mills have run out of wheat, resulting in a shortage of flour. The Flour Mills Association has claimed that the shortage of wheat and flour in half of the city’s mills is due to the Sindh government’s black marketing. Chaudhry Aamir, the head of the Flour Mills Association, stated in a press release that the prices of flour are increasing due to the Sindh government’s black marketing.

Chaudhry Aamir expressed concern that half of Karachi’s flour mills have run out of wheat, resulting in a shortage of flour in the city. He expressed fear that next week, the price of flour may reach 200 rupees per kilogram. He also stated that if wheat supplies are not replenished within 48 hours, the mills in the city will shut down from May 2. He accused the Sindh government of sitting on four billion rupees and selling expensive flour to the people, even though wheat prices in the international market are low.

He stated that wheat could be bought from Russia for 93 rupees per kilogram, while local wheat is being sold for 120 rupees per kilogram. The wheat market in Sindh is said to be corrupt, with bribes being taken for the wheat that is brought into the province.

Once again, Karachi is facing a crisis of wheat and flour, with concerns rising about the shortage of these commodities. The reason for the shortage of wheat and flour in half of the city’s mills is being attributed to the conflict between the Sindh government and the flour mill owners over wheat.”
