The social networking website Twitter removed blue ticks from verified accounts, causing many famous personalities to lose their verified status.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli are among the personalities and organizations who lost their blue tick on Twitter.
Twitter used to verify the user’s account through the blue tick, which meant that the account was not fake but genuine. However, now the blue tick is disappearing from verified accounts of Twitter users.
In addition to Imran Khan, whose Twitter has more than 19 million followers, the Twitter accounts of Bollywood’s emperor Amitabh Bachchan, whose Twitter followers number more than 48 million, and Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan, whose Twitter has more than 43 million followers, have also been deprived of Twitter’s verified accounts.
Not only them, but also the former captain of the national cricket team Shahid Afridi, the current captain Babar Azam, and the fast bowler Shaheen Afridi lost their blue ticks on Twitter.
In fact, the blue tick is not disappearing from verified Twitter accounts due to some magic but because Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, is removing them under the Twitter subscription service.
Elon Musk declared the free blue tick program corrupt after buying Twitter in October 2022.
