Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain confirmed as President of Muslim League Q by Election Commission after leadership dispute

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain remains the President of the Muslim League Q according to a decision by the Election Commission on the issue of leadership of the party.

According to ARY News, a leadership dispute has been ongoing in the Q League since last year, after the party was hit by a rift. Party leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had made amendments to the party’s constitution, reducing the term of the party president from three years to two.

The issue of the constitutional amendments was taken up by the High Court, which referred the matter to the Election Commission. The Election Commission heard the case and has now made a decision, preserving Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s position as the party president.

The Election Commission has rejected the request by Q League leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and confirmed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the President of the Muslim League Q.

In its brief decision, the Election Commission stated that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi cannot make amendments to the party constitution as he does not have the authority to do so.
