The Delhi High Court has ordered YouTube to immediately remove videos based on fake news about Aaradhya Bachchan, daughter of Bollywood famous actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, related to her health. The parents had approached the Delhi High Court requesting that videos based on false information be removed from YouTube.
Justice C. Hari Shankar heard the request and ordered YouTube to remove the videos related to Aaradhya Bachchan immediately, stating that spreading misleading information about the child’s physical and mental health is intolerable according to the law.
The Bachchan family’s lawyers hailed the court’s decision as a historic ruling. Advocate Diwakar Krishnan stated that the videos were false, fake, and defamatory, and were uploaded merely to increase views and subscribers to the channel.
Aaradhya Bachchan is often seen accompanying her parents at events. In India, there are thousands of YouTube channels that upload videos about famous personalities and their children to earn income. The videos mostly contain fake material.
