Why was Imran Khan arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case?
Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan was arrested today by the Rangers from Islamabad in the Al-Qadir Trust case. NAB has also issued the reasons for the former Prime Minister’s arrest.
According to NAB, Imran Khan has been arrested in the Al-Qadir University case, which involves the illegal acquisition of land. The National Crime Agency of the UK has traced a benefit of £190 million from illegal acquisition.
The NAB stated that after completing the legal procedure in NAB, the arrest was made, and during the inspection, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were issued call-up notices. Both were trustees of Al-Qadir Trust, and no response was received from either of them.
NAB stated that former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Shahzad Akbar, was involved in the case and played a key role. Shahzad Akbar and Imran Khan misled the cabinet by hiding the secret agreement and the amount of £190 million was deposited in the national treasury.
