India has changed its opener for the World Test Championship final match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Ishant Kishan will replace injured KL Rahul in the team for the final against Australia next month.
KL Rahul sustained an injury while fielding and may take several weeks to recover fully.
According to BCCI, the decision was made after consulting with experts, and Rahul will undergo surgery soon, after which he will be trained at the National Cricket Academy.
Ishan Kishan has been nominated by the All India Senior Selection Committee as an alternative to KL Rahul.
Ishan Kishan has previously represented India in shorter formats and was in the Test squad for the first two matches of the series against Australia in February, but he has yet to make his debut in the longest format for India.
