Star Players From The World’s Leading Leagues Will Also Be Seen In Action At The African Cup Of Nations In Cameroon Starting January 9.

Preparations are in full swing for the opening match of the newly constructed stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon for the 36 matches of the group phase.

Famous English Premier League players Mohammad Salah, Sadio Mane and Riaz Mahrez will also represent their countries.

The top 24 teams from the African region, including defending champions Algeria, are taking part in the event.

Prior to Algeria, the event was won by Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan and Tunisia.

Egypt has won the title seven times, with Egypt participating in the event a maximum of 25 times.

Comoros and Gambia football teams are taking part in the event for the first time.

Defending champions Algeria is the strongest contenders for the event as they have an unbeaten record of 33 matches since 2018.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will be in action for Egypt in the event, with Mohamed Salah currently one of the top five players in world football rankings.

His club has played 18 games and scored 15 goals for Liverpool this season.

Sadiomane also belongs to the English Premier League team Liverpool, his native team is Senegal.

Sadio Mane has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for Liverpool this season

Riaz Mahrez plays for Manchester City while his home team in Algeria.

Riaz Mahrez has scored 6 goals in 16 matches for his club in the current English Premier League season. The Algerian team has high hopes for him.
