After the retirement of Indian Test cricketer Harbhajan Singh, all the players who made their Test debut in the 20th century retired.
He was the last player to make his Test debut in the 20th century who did not retire from international cricket regularly.
Harbhajan Singh played his last Test match in 2015 and since then he has failed to make a place in the national team. However, he had officially announced his retirement yesterday.
After his retirement, there is no player left who made his Test debut in the 90’s who now plays Test cricket or has not announced his retirement from Test cricket.
After Harbhajan Singh’s retirement, only Shoaib Malik and Chris Gayle are left with two players who made their international debut in the 90’s and are still representing their respective countries.
It may be recalled that Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik made their ODI debuts a month apart in 1999. However, both players made their Test debuts in 2000 and 2001, respectively, and both have retired from ODIs, including this format.
Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik have represented their countries in the recent T20 World Cup 2021 and there is a strong possibility that both the players will be seen in action again in the T20 World Cup 2022.
