A blast at a madrassa in the Dir Colony area of Peshawar has killed seven students and injured more than 50 others.
The management of Lady Reading Hospital has also confirmed 7 deaths. Several people were injured in the blast and are receiving first aid. Two injured have also been shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
Police sources said that 72 injured people have been shifted to the hospital and more deaths are being feared in the blast. Hospital sources said that the condition of most of the injured children is critical.
Police sources said that a bomb disposal team has also reached the spot and the surrounding area has been sealed off. Unauthorized persons are not allowed on the scene.
According to police sources, evidence is being collected from the accident site which will be sent for forensic tests.
According to police sources, the nature of the blast was not immediately known but a suspect was seen entering the madrassa carrying a heavy bag.
According to SP Cantt Peshawar, a suspect had left his bag at the madrassa in the morning and no trace of the man has been found so far.
According to police sources, check posts have been set up in the surrounding areas to search for the suspect and a search operation is also being conducted.
