Senate Election: 12-Hour Deadline, Former PM Seeks Help From Members

According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission, the Senate elections will be held on March 3.

According to the details, under the directive issued by the Election Commission, all political activities will end 48 hours before the polling between March 1 and March 2 at 12 noon.

According to the Election Commission, the Senate candidate should give up all his activities after 12 noon tonight. Any political activity after 12 noon will be considered illegal.

Violating candidates will be prosecuted under Section 183 of the Election Act 2017.

The former prime minister asked for help in voting 

On the other hand, the joint candidate of the anti-government movement PDM, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, has sent a letter to all members of the National Assembly seeking votes.

Senate elections will be by secret ballot, Supreme Court

The Supreme Court, while issuing its opinion on the presidential reference regarding holding of Senate elections through open ballot or secret ballot, said that Senate elections will be held under the Constitution instead of law, Senate elections cannot be held through open ballot.

Senate elections: March 3

 Polling for the Senate elections will be held on March 3 in all four provincial and national assemblies. The polling process will continue from 9 am to 5 pm.
