The Statement Of The Student Came To Light 4 Months After The Video Of Lahore University ‘Proposal’ Went Viral

Shahriar, a student at the University of Lahore who appeared in the video four months later, said he had no idea the video would go viral and would face criticism to that extent.

The video of a student proposing to a fellow student in front of other students within the University of Lahore (UOL) went viral on the internet.

It may be recalled that on March 12 this year, the University of Lahore had expelled a student and a fellow student from the university after a video of them proposing to each other in front of other students went viral on the internet.

Later, various political figures, including Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Special Assistant for Political Relations Dr. Shahbaz Gill, PPP leader Sharmila Farooqi and Bakhtawar Bhutto, also opposed the expulsion of students from the university.

In an interview given to YouTube channel Pak. tv four months after the incident, Shehryar Rana said that the video that went viral that day was a surprise to me.

“I was told there was a birthday party, so when I went there, I was proposed, I was very happy and watching the videos, I felt like there was a movie scene, but what happened after that,” he said. Right in front of you

“When I watched my videos on the university group, I couldn’t believe it was memes and ticks,” he said.

Responding to family and relatives after the video went viral, he said that after that everything was handled with great difficulty, it was a very difficult time.

“One of the reasons is that I belong to a backward area,” Shehryar said.

“My area is Kot Momin near Sargodha and my parents or family do not know much about the media and they were very upset when the issue was severely criticized,” he said.

He said that his mother had seen the video which was made on the incident saying ‘this is us, this is our university and this is us being evicted’, she had not seen the video proposed before.

Shehryar said that his parents were worried that his career was deteriorating. ۔

Regarding the expulsion from the university, Shehryar said that if the video had gone viral, any university would have taken the same action as it did at that time.

“The university had done its duty and called us to the office. Now that the video went viral, the situation was such that I could not go there and went back home. I waited from 4 to 5 o’clock, but When we didn’t go, the university was forced to make that decision.

Shehryar added that he was grateful to the university administration for setting up another committee on the same issue.

They reviewed the matter and allowed me to come to the university and continue my education because some people said we should not have been expelled from the university.

Expressing his opinion on the issue, he said that whatever comes to the minds of our generation, whether it is good or bad, they do it, it is liberal, if we do it in secret, it will be fine. If we did it in front of everyone then we are bad.

“I can’t say anything about the mentality of the people. There is a lot of tension on the bridge. We have faced many problems due to the hatred expressed by the people and our society is very strict for girls,” he said. They are not forgiven at all. For the boy, it is said that the son is fine.

On the other hand, on the news of marriage to the girl in the viral video, Shehryar said that while I was looking at my mobile, the news of my marriage came in front of me.

Asked about the marriage, he said, “I made a mistake in accepting the proposal without asking the family and it went viral all over the world.”

“I had no idea it would go viral. You know how many proposal scenes there are in Lahore, how many in universities, but when the video came in the university group, I had in mind that The video will remain in the group and will not go out.

Shehryar said that when the proposed video was linked to the Women’s March, then we faced severe criticism while the video should not have been linked to it.

He said that now his family members say that he should complete his degree, make a career and then do whatever he wants. He has 2 years left to complete his education and only after that he will have to get married.

At the end of the interview, Shehryar said that the only thing I would say is not to propose in public because people turn it away.
