We will hold talks to appease Taliban: Ardawan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will hold talks with the Taliban to persuade them to deploy Turkish troops at Kabul airport.

Speaking to the media in Istanbul, the Turkish president said that the Taliban were aware of Turkey’s position, adding that he would see what kind of talk the Taliban had and how far it would go, but the Turkish president expressed hope that We will have successful talks with the Taliban on the issue.

The Taliban had condemned the possible deployment of Turkish troops for the security of Kabul airport after the US withdrawal and made it clear that the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan under any name would be considered an occupation.

Speaking to the media, the Turkish president also claimed that the Taliban in Afghanistan should not be treated as one Muslim should treat another Muslim, adding that the Taliban should end their occupation of their brothers’ land.
