According to details, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a review meeting was held on the purchase of wheat at the government level, and the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the record production of 275 million metric tons of wheat in the country.
The Prime Minister said that this year’s wheat production is the highest compared to the past 10 years, and due to the provision of quality seeds, fertilizers, and a farmer package, it was possible to achieve a splendid wheat harvest.
He said that despite rains and floods, the record wheat harvest is a testament to the government’s best governance, and despite financial difficulties, the farmers who planted wheat and the entire nation deserve congratulations on bumper wheat production. Next year, the government is also working on practical measures to increase wheat production even more.
The Prime Minister said that due to the mismanagement of the previous incompetent government, Pakistan has become a wheat-importing country. Provincial and federal departments should purchase wheat directly from farmers so that the farmers can benefit, and provincial and federal agencies should increase the target of wheat procurement so that uninterrupted supply is possible throughout the year.
He further said that strict action should be taken against hoarders, and means of obtaining the required equipment for the predetermined amount of wheat should be provided through banks.
