Religious leader Salim Khatiri’s murder case sees significant progress, 3 terrorists arrested

Karachi: There has been a significant development in the murder case of religious leader Salim Khatiri, according to Additional IG Karachi who stated that three terrorists involved in sectarian targeted killings were arrested in Bilal Colony, New Karachi based on intelligence information.

According to details shared during a press conference, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho said that the murder case of Salim Khatiri, who was a leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, had seen significant progress. The police arrested three terrorists involved in sectarian targeted killings in a secret operation based on intelligence information in New Karachi’s Bilal Colony.

Javed Alam Odho said, “An elaborate conspiracy was hatched during Ramadan to carry out sectarian violence, and foreign intelligence agencies were involved in targeted killings in the city.”

He further explained that there had been an increase in targeted killings in Karachi in the past few weeks. Khalid Reza, a prominent educationist, and Mufti Abdul Qayyum were also targeted in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, but all three cases have been solved. The murder of Mufti Abdul Qayyum was a personal dispute.

According to the IG, there had been a shift towards religious affairs in the three murder cases that took place in February and March, but relevant measures were taken during Ramadan to maintain peace and security.

He added that street crimes pose a major challenge for the police, and nine suspects involved in murder cases during Ramadan have also been arrested in various operations.
