The former federal minister and central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shireen Mazari, was released from Adiala Jail after a court order.
Shireen Mazari was arrested during the violent protests that took place after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan on the night of May 12, during a raid on her house.
Today, the Islamabad High Court, under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, issued an order declaring the arrest of the District Magistrate as illegal and ordered the immediate release of Shireen Mazari and PTI Senator Falak Naz. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the decision after hearing the arguments.
Before the release of the former federal minister, the jail administration received a notice from the court. The jail administration stated that there is a legal process underway regarding the release of Shireen Mazari, and she will be released from Adiala Jail in the evening hours.
It should be noted that several leaders of PTI are still under arrest, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Ali Muhammad Khan, Senator Seifullah Niazi, and Shireen Afridi.
