Islamabad: The federal government has decided not to expand the seventh digital census any further. The expanded process will be completed on May 15.

The Federal Bureau of Statistics has written to all provincial, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan governments, stating that the census process is linked to the limitations of general elections.

The letter said that after the approval of the Election Commission, it is essential to provide the results to them, as factors such as birth, death, and migration can affect the results.

“The seventh census will not be expanded after May 15 because it has already been expanded five times before. The field operation of the census started on March 1, 2023. Initially, the process was to be completed on April 4, 2023,” the letter read.
