WhatsApp officially says outdated phones will not continue to use WhatsApp in February 2020. iPhone having iOS 9 or later and Android having version 2.3.7 or older will be affected. If these devices want to continue to use WhatsApp, should update their version. WhatsApp will no longer available for Windows Phones.

It will definitely affect the windows phone users. iPhone users who have not updated version yet now have a solid reason to update to the latest version to continue the use of WhatsApp. iPhone users with iOS 8 are still using WhatsApp but WhatsApp will stop working on their phones in February 2020.

Android users having version 2.3.7 or older cannot create a new account or reverify their account however they can use WhatsApp till February 2020.

iPhone users also cannot create or reverify account on iOS 8, they definitely need iOS 9 or later version to create or reverify their account.

“For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS available for your phone,” WhatsApp said and added “We don’t explicitly restrict the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices. However, because these modifications might affect the functionality of your device, we can’t provide support for devices using modified versions of the iPhone’s operating system,”
