The captain praised the bowlers who displayed an excellent performance on the pitch and said that the win was made possible because of them.
In the first one-day match being played in Rawalpindi, Pakistan easily achieved New Zealand’s target of 289 runs with a loss of 5 wickets.
Opener Fakhar Zaman shone for Pakistan, scoring a remarkable century against the Kiwi team. Fakhar Zaman made 117 runs, including 13 boundaries and one six in his charming innings.
The opening partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq established a stand of 124 runs. Imam-ul-Haq went back to the pavilion after scoring 60 runs while the captain Babar Azam contributed 45 runs. With this, he became the second-fastest batter in the world to score 12,000 runs in international cricket.
