About the BMR Calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest just to stay alive — keeping your heart beating, lungs breathing, brain working and cells repairing. It typically accounts for 60–75% of your total daily energy expenditure. This calculator estimates your BMR using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the formula widely regarded as the most accurate for the general population.
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation uses your weight, height, age and sex: for men, BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(years) + 5; for women, the same formula with −161 instead of +5. Because muscle burns more calories than fat, and metabolism naturally slows with age, both body composition and age directly influence the result.
Knowing your BMR is the foundation of any serious nutrition plan. Your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) is roughly BMR multiplied by an activity factor: about 1.2 for a sedentary office worker, 1.375 for light activity, 1.55 for moderate exercise several days a week, 1.725 for heavy training, and up to 1.9 for athletes. Eating below your TDEE produces weight loss; eating above it produces weight gain.
For Pakistanis planning weight loss, the common mistake is cutting calories far too aggressively. A sustainable deficit is usually 300–500 calories below TDEE per day, which yields about 0.3–0.5 kg of fat loss per week. The BMR figure itself is not the target — it is the baseline from which your daily needs are calculated.
This calculator gives you your resting calorie burn. To use it for meal planning, multiply the result by your activity factor to get your daily maintenance calories, then adjust up or down for your goal. As your weight changes, recalculate — BMR falls as you lose weight, so targets need updating over time.
About the EMI Calculator
An EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is the fixed amount you pay a bank or lender every month until your loan is fully repaid. It is the single most important number to know before signing any home, car, bike, or personal loan agreement in Pakistan, because it determines how much of your monthly income goes to debt and for how long. This EMI calculator lets you see that figure instantly for any loan amount, interest rate and tenure.
The calculation follows the standard reducing-balance amortisation formula used by State Bank of Pakistan-regulated banks and non-bank finance companies. Interest is charged on the outstanding principal, not the original amount, which means early payments go mostly toward interest and later payments mostly toward principal. Understanding this is why comparing EMIs across banks can save you hundreds of thousands of rupees over a 10-year home loan.
When Pakistani banks quote a home finance rate, they usually offer KIBOR-based pricing — for example 'KIBOR + 3%'. The effective annual rate you enter should be the full percentage you will actually pay, not just the spread. Use your bank's stated effective rate, or the advertised rate for a car or personal loan, to get a realistic EMI figure rather than an optimistic one.
Use this calculator to experiment before you negotiate: increase the down payment to shrink the principal, lengthen the tenure to lower the monthly EMI (at the cost of more total interest), or shop between banks to find the lowest rate. A rule of thumb is that your total monthly debt payments should not exceed roughly 40–50% of your take-home income, so check your EMI against that before committing.
The results show your monthly EMI, the total amount you will repay (principal plus interest), and the total interest component. Keep these numbers when comparing bank offers — they reveal that a slightly higher rate over a long tenure costs far more than a small difference in the monthly figure suggests.
Why compare calculators?
Choosing between two financial products, two tax regimes, two phones or two loan offers comes down to the numbers — and numbers are easiest to judge side by side. Our comparison mode shows both calculators live on one screen: change a value on either side and watch the results update instantly. Whether you are weighing a filer vs non-filer tax scenario, comparing EMI across tenures, or checking two electricity tariffs, the answer is one screen away. Your inputs never leave your browser.
