About the Compound Interest Calculator
Compound interest is the mechanism that makes savings grow exponentially rather than linearly. When interest is added to your balance, the next period's interest is calculated on the new, larger balance — so your money earns interest on interest. This is why long-term investors in Pakistan's mutual funds, national savings schemes and bank deposits consistently outperform short-term savers over decades.
The compounding frequency matters enormously. A deposit earning 10% annually with interest credited monthly ends up worth more than one with interest credited yearly, because each month's credited interest immediately starts earning its own interest. This calculator lets you switch between yearly, monthly and daily compounding so you can see the difference for yourself — daily compounding can add a meaningful edge over a long tenure.
For Pakistani savers, the practical question is where to put money to benefit from compounding: bank profit rates (such as saving accounts and term deposits), national savings certificates, mutual funds, or the Naya Pakistan certificates for overseas Pakistanis. All of them compound, but at different rates and frequencies — enter each rate into this calculator to compare the future value side by side.
The calculator assumes a fixed annual rate for the entire period. In reality, rates move with the State Bank of Pakistan's policy rate. A conservative approach is to run the calculation at a lower rate than today's to stress-test your plan, and to treat the result as a projection rather than a guarantee.
The key lesson from compound interest is time: starting just five years earlier can double your final balance at typical rates because the later years of compounding contribute the most growth. Use this calculator to see exactly what a decade of patience is worth.
About the EMI Calculator
An EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is the fixed amount you pay a bank or lender every month until your loan is fully repaid. It is the single most important number to know before signing any home, car, bike, or personal loan agreement in Pakistan, because it determines how much of your monthly income goes to debt and for how long. This EMI calculator lets you see that figure instantly for any loan amount, interest rate and tenure.
The calculation follows the standard reducing-balance amortisation formula used by State Bank of Pakistan-regulated banks and non-bank finance companies. Interest is charged on the outstanding principal, not the original amount, which means early payments go mostly toward interest and later payments mostly toward principal. Understanding this is why comparing EMIs across banks can save you hundreds of thousands of rupees over a 10-year home loan.
When Pakistani banks quote a home finance rate, they usually offer KIBOR-based pricing — for example 'KIBOR + 3%'. The effective annual rate you enter should be the full percentage you will actually pay, not just the spread. Use your bank's stated effective rate, or the advertised rate for a car or personal loan, to get a realistic EMI figure rather than an optimistic one.
Use this calculator to experiment before you negotiate: increase the down payment to shrink the principal, lengthen the tenure to lower the monthly EMI (at the cost of more total interest), or shop between banks to find the lowest rate. A rule of thumb is that your total monthly debt payments should not exceed roughly 40–50% of your take-home income, so check your EMI against that before committing.
The results show your monthly EMI, the total amount you will repay (principal plus interest), and the total interest component. Keep these numbers when comparing bank offers — they reveal that a slightly higher rate over a long tenure costs far more than a small difference in the monthly figure suggests.
Why compare calculators?
Choosing between two financial products, two tax regimes, two phones or two loan offers comes down to the numbers — and numbers are easiest to judge side by side. Our comparison mode shows both calculators live on one screen: change a value on either side and watch the results update instantly. Whether you are weighing a filer vs non-filer tax scenario, comparing EMI across tenures, or checking two electricity tariffs, the answer is one screen away. Your inputs never leave your browser.
