Aamir Khan

Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan (born 14 March 1965) is an Indian actor and filmmaker who works in Hindi cinema. Known as "Mr. Perfectionist" for his meticulous approach to filmmaking, Khan is regarded as one of the most influential actors in Indian cinema. Unlike most Bollywood stars, Khan typically releases only one film per year, but each film is carefully crafted and often addresses social issues. Born in Mumbai to a family with a strong film background — his father was a film producer and his uncle was the legendary director Nasir Hussain — Khan made his debut as a child actor in "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" (1973). He began his adult acting career with "Holi" (1984) and broke through with "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" (1988), a romantic musical that was a massive commercial success. Khan's most significant contributions have been through socially conscious filmmaking. "Lagaan" (2001), set during British colonial rule, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. "Rang De Basanti" (2006) and "Taare Zameen Par" (2007, which he also directed) addressed youth activism and learning disabilities respectively. "3 Idiots" (2009) became the highest-grossing Indian film at the time. "Dangal" (2016), about a father training his daughters as wrestlers, became the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide, earning over ₹2,000 crore globally. Khan's talk show "Satyamev Jayate" (2012) addressed social issues like female foeticide, child abuse, and untouchability, sparking national conversations and leading to legislative changes. His ability to combine commercial entertainment with social commentary has made him unique in Indian cinema.
