Abdul Rashid Dostum

Abdul Rashid Dostum, born on March 25, 1954, in Khwaja Du Koh, Afghanistan, is a powerful Afghan military commander and politician. He is an ethnic Uzbek who built a formidable militia during the Soviet-Afghan War and the civil war. Dostum has been one of the most powerful warlords in northern Afghanistan for decades. He served as Senior Chief of Staff to the Commander in Chief of the Afghan National Army and was elected Vice President in 2014. Known for his military prowess and political pragmatism, Dostum has switched sides multiple times throughout Afghanistan's turbulent history. Despite controversies, he remains one of the most influential political figures in Afghanistan, particularly among the Uzbek community.
