Abrar ul Haq

Abrar ul Haq is a Pakistani pop singer, songwriter and philanthropist, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern Pakistani pop music. Born on 21 July 1969 in Faisalabad, he grew up in a middle-class family and studied at Government College Faisalabad before pursuing music. In 1995 he released his debut album Billo De Ghar, which revolutionised the country's music scene with its blend of bhangra and pop and became one of the best-selling albums in Pakistani history.

Music career

Abrar followed with the albums Majajani (1996) and Nachan Main Oday (2003), producing hits such as Mera Yaar, Nachan Main Oday and Paisa. His music videos, featuring elaborate sets and dance choreography, defined Pakistani pop in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and he became a fixture at award shows and concerts across the country and abroad. He has continued to release singles and feature in Coke Studio collaborations.

Philanthropy

Beyond music, Abrar is one of Pakistan's most dedicated celebrity philanthropists. He founded the Abrarul Haq Foundation, which has provided free healthcare through the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, supported flood and earthquake victims, and funded education initiatives. He has been associated with several UN campaigns, including work on polio eradication, and has supported the Pakistan Cricket Board's charity initiatives. His decades of service and music make him one of the most respected public figures in Pakistan.
