Abul Kalam Azad

Abul Kalam Azad (March 26, 1922 – December 30, 2007), also known as Abul Kalam Shamsuddin, was a pioneering Bangladeshi journalist, writer, and intellectual. He is often regarded as one of the founding figures of Bengali journalism in Bangladesh. Azad started his journalistic career in the 1940s and became one of the most influential editors and columnists in the country. He founded several newspapers and magazines and his sharp political commentary shaped public opinion for decades. During the 1971 Liberation War, he was instrumental in the information war, broadcasting news and morale-boosting content. He received numerous literary and journalism awards throughout his career and is remembered as a giant of Bengali intellectual life.
