Ali Zafar

Ali Zafar is a Pakistani singer-songwriter, actor, composer and producer who achieved success in both Pakistan and India. Born on 29 May 1980 in Lahore, he studied computer science at the University of the Punjab before pursuing music. He released his debut album Huqa Pani in 2003, which became one of the best-selling albums in Pakistani history and made him an instant star with hits like Channo and Rang.

Bollywood career

Ali followed with the albums Masty (2006) and Jhoom (2011), and then crossed into Bollywood, making his film debut with the comedy Tere Bin Laden (2010), for which he earned a Filmfare nomination for Best Male Debut. He went on to star in Chashme Baddoor (2013), Total Siyapaa (2014) and Kill Dil (2014), while recording playback hits such as Dekha Jo Tumko and Jhoom.

Return to Pakistan and activism

After returning to Pakistan, Ali starred in and directed the action comedy Teefa in Trouble (2018), and has since focused on music, concerts and social causes. He is a vocal advocate for peace between India and Pakistan and has been involved in philanthropic work, including earthquake and flood relief. A painter and sketch artist as well, Ali Zafar remains one of Pakistan's most versatile and beloved entertainers, with a massive following across South Asia.
