Amrullah Saleh

Amrullah Saleh, born on October 15, 1972, in Panjshir, Afghanistan, is an Afghan politician who served as the First Vice President of Afghanistan from 2020 to 2021. He was the head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) from 2004 to 2010 and is considered one of Afghanistan's most capable intelligence officials. After the Taliban takeover in August 2021, Saleh declared himself the legitimate caretaker president of Afghanistan, citing the Afghan constitution. He fled to the Panjshir Valley to join the resistance led by Ahmad Massoud. Known for his anti-Taliban stance and his work in intelligence, Saleh has been a vocal advocate for the Afghan republic and resistance against Taliban rule.
