Atta Muhammad Noor

Atta Muhammad Noor, born on May 30, 1964, in Dara-i-Suf, Afghanistan, is an Afghan politician and former Governor of Balkh Province. He was one of the most powerful provincial governors in Afghanistan and a key leader of Jamiat-e-Islami. Noor built a reputation as a strong administrator and helped develop Mazar-i-Sharif into one of Afghanistan's most progressive cities. He was critical of both President Ghani's government and the Taliban takeover. After 2021, he went into exile and has been involved in the resistance movement. Known for his outspoken nature and his development work in the north, Noor remains a significant political figure.
