Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh (born 6 January 1984) is an Indian singer, songwriter, and actor who works in Punjabi and Hindi cinema and music. He is one of the biggest Punjabi music artists in the world and gained international fame by becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at the Coachella music festival in 2023. His energetic performances and fusion of Punjabi folk with modern sounds have made him a global phenomenon. Born in Dosanjh Kalan, Jalandhar, Punjab, Diljit began his career with Punjabi music, releasing his debut album "Ishq Da Rutba" in 2003. He quickly became one of the most popular Punjabi singers with hits like "Proper Patola," "Laembadgini," "Do You Know," and "Born to Shine." His Instagram following makes him one of the most followed South Asian artists globally. Diljit made his Bollywood debut with "Udta Punjab" (2016), which was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. He went on to star in "Phillauri" (2017), "Soorma" (2018), "Good Newwz" (2019), and "Jogi" (2022). His highest-grossing film is "Chamkila" (2023), directed by Imtiaz Ali, where he portrayed the legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. His performance at Coachella 2023 was a watershed moment for Punjabi and Indian music globally. The set included "G.O.A.T." and "Naina," and was attended by tens of thousands. He also performed at sold-out concerts across the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. In 2024, he performed at the Grammy Awards ceremony. His concert film "Dil-Luminati Tour" (2024) was released on Netflix.
