Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah (born 6 December 1993) is an Indian cricketer and one of the best fast bowlers in the world. Known for his unique bowling action, lethal yorkers, and ability to swing the ball both ways, Bumrah has been India's spearhead in all formats since his debut in 2016. Born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Bumrah was raised by his mother Daljit Bumrah after his father died when he was young. He was spotted by former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar during a domestic match and recommended for the Indian team. His unorthodox bowling action — with a low-arm release — initially drew criticism, but its effectiveness quickly silenced doubters. Bumrah's international debut came in 2016 in a T20I against Australia, where he immediately impressed with his pace and accuracy. He became India's primary death-overs bowler, known for his unplayable yorkers at the end of innings. He has taken over 150 Test wickets, 150 ODI wickets, and 80+ T20I wickets. His most memorable performance came in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament for his devastating bowling that helped India win the title. He was also named ICC Test Player of the Year and ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year for 2024.
