Kailash Kher

Kailash Kher (born 7 July 1974) is an Indian singer and composer known for his distinctive voice that blends Indian folk and Sufi music with contemporary sounds. He gained widespread fame with the song "Allah Ke Bande" from the film "Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II" (2003), which became a massive hit and established him as one of the most unique voices in Bollywood. Born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Kher comes from a family of folk musicians. He grew up in Delhi, singing at religious gatherings and events. He moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in music and initially struggled before "Allah Ke Bande" changed his fortunes. Kher's most popular songs include "Allah Ke Bande" (2003), "Channo" (2006), "Teri Deewani" (2007), "Saiyyan" (2007), "Manchala" (2015), and "Kailash Kher: The Journey" (2019). He has also composed music for several films and has released multiple albums that blend Sufi, folk, and contemporary music. Beyond Bollywood, Kher is known for his live performances and his ability to bring Indian folk music to mainstream audiences. He has performed at major music festivals around the world and has collaborated with international artists. In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian music.
