Mahira Khan

Mahira Khan is Pakistan's most internationally recognised actress and a former VJ whose transition to acting made her a superstar. Born on 21 December 1984 in Karachi, she spent part of her childhood in San Francisco before returning to Pakistan. She began her career in entertainment as a video jockey for MTV Pakistan, where her charm and ease on camera quickly made her a household name.

Breakthrough and Bollywood

Mahira made her film debut in 2011 with Shoaib Mansoor's critically acclaimed Bol, and in the same year starred opposite Fawad Khan in the iconic romance Humsafar. The drama became one of the most successful in Pakistani television history and catapulted her to stardom across South Asia. She delivered another landmark performance in Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012) and followed with Shehr-e-Zaat, Sadqay Tumhare and Bin Roye (2015), winning the Hum Award for Best Actress for the latter.

In 2017 she made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, becoming one of the few Pakistani actresses to work in the Indian film industry. Her other films include Ho Mann Jahaan (2016), Verna (2017), Superstar (2019) and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad (2022).

Beyond acting, Mahira is a global brand ambassador — most notably for beauty giant Garnier — and a UN goodwill figure who speaks openly about social issues.
