Biography
Mahmudullah Riyad (born 4 February 1986) is a Bangladeshi cricketer known for his calm and composed batting under pressure. A right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler, he has been one of Bangladesh's most reliable middle-order batsmen and match-finishers.
Born in Mymensingh, Mahmudullah made his international debut in 2007. He is particularly known for his performances in World Cup tournaments. In the 2015 World Cup, he scored centuries in consecutive matches against England and Australia, helping Bangladesh reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
In the 2019 World Cup, he became the first Bangladeshi to score two consecutive World Cup centuries. His match-winning 128 against Australia in the 2019 World Cup is considered one of the greatest innings in Bangladeshi cricket history.
Mahmudullah also captained Bangladesh in T20Is and was known for his leadership qualities. He retired from T20 internationals in 2022 but continues to play in domestic cricket.
