Rubana Huq

Rubana Huq (born 1964) is a Bangladeshi businesswoman who served as the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) from 2019 to 2022. She is also the Managing Director of Mohammad Group, one of the largest garment manufacturers in Bangladesh. Born in Chittagong, Huq studied at the University of Dhaka and later at the International University of Japan. She joined Mohammad Group and expanded its operations significantly, making it one of the top garment exporters in the country. As BGMEA President, Huq was the first woman to lead the association. She focused on improving working conditions, sustainability, and compliance in the garment industry. She was featured in Forbes Asia's 50 Power Businesswomen list and has been a prominent voice for women in business. Beyond business, Huq is a social activist and has worked on education and healthcare initiatives. She has been a vocal advocate for fair wages and safe working conditions for garment workers.
