Salman F Rahman

Salman F Rahman (born 1949) is a Bangladeshi businessman and the founder and chairman of the Beximco Group, one of the largest private sector conglomerates in Bangladesh. He has been one of the most influential business figures in the country for decades. Born in Dhaka, Rahman studied at the University of Dhaka. He co-founded Beximco (Bangladesh Export Import Company) in 1972, shortly after Bangladesh's independence. Under his leadership, Beximco expanded into pharmaceuticals, textiles, ceramics, media, and financial services. Beximco Pharmaceuticals is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh, exporting medicines to over 50 countries. The Beximco Group has a diversified portfolio with interests in textiles, ceramics, media (Independent Television), real estate, and information technology. Rahman has served as a member of parliament and has been a close business ally of Sheikh Hasina's government. He was a private sector adviser to the Prime Minister. Despite facing allegations of crony capitalism, he has been recognized for his contributions to Bangladesh's economic development.
