Savitri Jindal

Savitri Jindal (born 20 March 1950) is an Indian businesswoman and the chairperson emeritus of the O.P. Jindal Group, one of India's largest industrial conglomerates with interests in steel, power, mining, and infrastructure. With a net worth exceeding $40 billion, she is the richest woman in India and among the wealthiest women in Asia. She leads the group's vast empire following the death of her husband, O.P. Jindal, in 2005. Born in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, Savitri married Om Prakash Jindal in 1970 when he was a young businessman building his steel company. She supported his growing business ambitions while managing their large family. After O.P. Jindal's death in a helicopter crash in 2005, Savitri took over the leadership of the Jindal Group, which was then divided among her four sons. Under her guidance, the Jindal Group has expanded significantly. The group's flagship companies include JSW Steel (one of India's largest steelmakers), JSW Energy, Jindal Steel and Power, and Jindal Stainless. The group has a combined revenue exceeding $30 billion and operates in steel, power, mining, cement, and infrastructure sectors. Savitri has been a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly and was a minister in the Haryana government. Despite the group being divided among her sons, she remains the matriarch and guiding force behind the family's business empire.
