Shreya Ghoshal

Shreya Ghoshal (born 12 March 1984) is an Indian playback singer who is widely regarded as one of the finest female singers in the history of Indian music. Known for her melodious voice, technical brilliance, and versatility, she has sung in over 20 Indian languages and has won four National Film Awards. Born in Berhampore, Murshidabad, West Bengal, and raised in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan, Ghoshal was trained in Hindustani classical music from a young age. She gained national recognition after winning the reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" in 2000. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave her a break with the film "Devdas" (2002), and she won the National Film Award for her songs in the film. Ghoshal's most popular songs include "Dola Re Dola" (2002), "Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka" (2005), "Manwa Laage" (2014), "Deewani Mastani" (2015), "Ghoomar" (2018), "Teri Mitti" (2019), and "Chaka Chak" (2021). She has won the National Film Award four times and the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer seven times. Beyond playback singing, Ghoshal is a concert performer who has performed in over 40 countries. She is also a judge on several music reality shows and has been a mentor to many young singers. Her ability to sing across genres — from classical to pop, from Sufi to rock — has made her one of the most versatile singers in Indian music.
