Sushil Koirala

Sushil Koirala (July 12, 1939 – February 9, 2016) was a Nepalese politician who served as the 37th Prime Minister of Nepal from 2014 to 2015. He was the president of the Nepali Congress party and a member of the influential Koirala political dynasty. Sushil played a crucial role in the promulgation of Nepal's new constitution in 2015. He was imprisoned several times during the partyless Panchayat era for his pro-democracy activities. Koirala was a bachelor and was known for his simple and austere lifestyle. His tenure as Prime Minister saw significant political developments including the constitution-making process and the response to the devastating 2015 earthquake.
