Biography
Tamim Iqbal Khan (born 20 March 1989) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who is one of the most prolific opening batsmen in the history of Bangladeshi cricket. He has scored over 8,000 runs in ODIs and over 5,000 runs in Tests, making him Bangladesh's highest run-scorer in both formats.
Born in Chittagong, Tamim is the nephew of former Bangladeshi captain Akram Khan. He made his international debut in 2007 and quickly established himself as a stylish and aggressive opener. He is known for his cover drives and pull shots.
Tamim's most memorable performances include his 128 against England in the 2015 World Cup, his 158 against Zimbabwe in 2018 (Bangladesh's highest individual Test score at the time), and his century against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy semi-final. He became the first Bangladeshi to score 10,000 international runs across formats.
He has been a regular in the IPL, playing for Chennai Super Kings, and in county cricket. Despite injuries, he has remained a key figure in Bangladeshi cricket and announced his retirement from T20 internationals in 2022.
